Moneyball for directors. Sports for corporates. Metrics for director accountability. It’s a lot.
Free Float Analytics measures the influence and performance of individual members of publicly traded corporate boards of directors and management teams.
It fuses social science on team dynamics, board dynamics, and even primatology with sports analytics to understand how power is distributed amongst boards and how those directors perform relative to their social power.
-
Free Float Analytics covers more than 10,000 publicly traded companies and 200,000 directors globally over varying periods, largely between 2017 and the present. Each director has an estimate of influence (as a percentage for each board in a given year) and performance metrics (where available).
So… a whole lot of them?
-
Free Float Analytics is designed for any investor, particularly those who wish to exercise their rights in the alternative democracy that is proxy voting. It also allows investors or consumers to match their purchases or investments with people they believe in rather than corporate missions. Let’s be honest: you don’t have any data on the people who run companies. Now you do.
The primary users tend to be institutional investors and advisors, as well as board placement services and proxy advisory, given Free Float Analytics is the first global measurement system of director influence and performance.
-
Free Float LLC does not give investment advice, and Free Float Analytics is meant to provide information and data for better decision-making. Feel free to make up your own way to use it.

Influence isn’t a “score” - it’s an estimate of an individual’s power that’s built on years of leadership, management, social, and natural science. The “dimensions” of influence in this case include the director’s resume (their expertise and experience), social network (connections, social groups, and proximity to prestige), status (structural power, like shareholdings or insider status), and role (titular power)
